A brief look

Weligama, which meaning "sandy town," is a suitable name given that it features one of the largest bays with sandy coves. It is the surf mecca on Sri Lanka's southern coast. If you can't decide between Weligama and Mirissa for your surfing vacation, you may have both because they're so near. There are several surf schools and board rentals in the vicinity. It is also well-known for the distinctive Sri Lankan stilt-fishing. If you are not interested in the bustling beach scene, the town's unspoiled beaches are ideal for sumptuous reclining and peaceful relaxation. Taprobane

This island, which is slightly offshore and within low-tide walking distance, was previously home to Count de Mauny Talvande, who erected his villa here in the 1920s.

Kushtaraja Gala

A Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara figure, thought to have healing properties, is carved onto a large rock face at this Mahayana Buddhist monument.

Snake Farm

The snakes recovered here range from non-venomous to extremely venomous. Within the premises, there is also a tiny Ayurvedic center for snake bites.
