Nuwara Eliya

A brief look

Nuwara Eliya is the hill station of British Ceylon and the world's 'Little England.' Its undulating hills, beautiful pastures, and highland climate made it a favorite getaway for British colonials in Sri Lanka. At a height of 2000 meters, the weather in Nuwara Eliya is ideal for golfing, trekking, boating, and indulging in the finest tea experiences. Miles and miles of beautiful tea farms cover the area, making it one of the world's top tea-growing locations. The rail travel from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya is one of the most picturesque train routes in the country. The waterfalls that dominate the scenery of Nuwara Eliya are not only stunning, but also plentiful.

Popular Tourist spots

Lake Gregory

It is the most beautiful picnic location in the central highlands. Boating on the lake, cycling, strolling, and pony riding are all options, and youngsters may play.

Hakgala Botanical Gardens

It is Sri Lanka's second biggest garden, and its 10,000 flower varieties flourish in the Nuwara Eliya environment. It is mentioned in the Ramayana as a gift from Ravana to Sita.

Horton Plain National Park

The vast meadows and woodland regions, which are home to World's End, include populations of sambar deer and purple-faced langurs darting in and out of sight.

Nuwara Eliya Golf Course

This 100-acre course was established in the nineteenth century and features 18 holes. The club, which is one of the oldest in South Asia, also has a kids academy, a pro shop, and training facilities.

Laxapana Falls

Standing at 126 metres in height, this is Sri Lanka’s 8th highest waterfall. Buddha is said to have mended his saffron robe, here, on his way to Sri Pada.

Victoria Park

It was constructed in 1987 for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee and is one of the best-kept local parks. There are flowers, birds, and a small railway in the park.
