A brief look

It is the crown jewel of Sri Lanka's southern coast. Mirissa has a lot more to offer than you may think, from whale viewing to surfing. This laid-back beachfront village, located between Galle and Tangalle, provides the perfect combination of activity and beach serenity. Its lovely harbor creates a gorgeous crescent beach, with lush coconut trees around the margins. Mirissa whale viewing is the most anticipated experience since it is located along one of the world's most important cetacean migration paths. It is the greatest site in Sri Lanka to watch blue whales and sperm whales. Spinner dolphins can also be seen in its waters. The surfing conditions are superb here, and it draws both experienced and inexperienced surfers.

Whale watching

Mirissa's whale viewing season runs from November through April. During this season, there is a 90% probability of seeing a variety of whales, dolphins, and turtles.

Surfing

Mirissa is Sri Lanka's best-kept surf secret. Relaxed right-handers and soft left-handers emerge from the bay here, while calm waves welcome surfers of all abilities.

Parrot Rock Mirissa

This little rock island is located on the eastern end of Mirissa beach. You must go through the water for about 50 feet before reaching the summit, where there are panoramic views all around.

Coconut Tree Hill

It's a coconut-tree-covered mountaintop. The sunset views from here are truly breathtaking. If you miss the sunset, arrive early in the morning to avoid crowds.

Turtle Watching

The coastline near Mirissa serves as a haven for sea turtles to visit and deposit eggs. Turtle hatcheries may be found at Polhena, Koggala, and Habaraduwa.

Secret Beach

This quiet beach is well worth the difficult journey to get there. You may take a shortcut through a forest to get to this Instagrammable beach.

Mirissa beach near the lifeguard tower is a turtle hatching ground during some months.
Weligama beach is only 10 minutes away, and it is a fantastic surfing spot.
Jet skiing, wakeboarding, and tubing are popular water sports to try out here.
Waters near the Mirissa reef are great for snorkelling and for spotting sea turtles.
Dondra Lighthouse is at the southernmost point of Sri Lanka and is near Mirissa.
