Dutch Fort

The Portuguese started it in the 16th century, and the Dutch extended it. You may wander around its strong ramparts that span 130 acres and view the ocean.

Galle Lighthouse

This lighthouse was built by the British in 1939 and is still in use today. It is the island's oldest light station and a major Galle Sri Lanka destination.

Dutch Reformed Church

It was erected in 1755 by the Dutch and is also known as Groot Kirk. It is Sri Lanka's oldest Protestant church that is still in service. The pulpit is made of wood, while the floor is made of gravestones.

The National Museum of Galle

Visit the Galle Museum, which is housed in the fort's oldest extant Dutch structure. It is home to items from the Portuguese, Dutch, and British eras.

Old Gate

It is the gateway of the fort, which was initially constructed by the Dutch and later renovated by the British. The British coat of arms is on the exterior, while the Dutch VOC is on the interior.

Maritime Museum

The museum is housed in a 1671 Dutch storehouse within Galle Fort. The objects exhibited here will take you on a journey through the commercial channels of the Dutch East India Company.
