Mandu River is situated in Balapitiya, within the Galle district of the southern province of Sri Lanka. Mandu lagoon is beautiful lagoon that opens up to the Indian Ocean. It is located in the wet zone of Sri Lanka and has a high biodiversity.

The swampy marshlands bordering the river are largely covered in mangrove trees. The forest spans 61 hectares, or more than 150 acres. This area has 14 of the 24 species of mangroves. It’s worth noting that mangroves play an important role in preventing erosion. The rapid expansion of mangrove trees has resulted in a chain of ecological benefits. Mangrove trees protect the soil, which is quite fruitful.
