Sri Lanka’s Epic Train Travel

The trains reach hidden parts of the country where cars, motorbikes or buses simply cannot go, through the depths of the highlands, meandering through mesmerizing acres of tea fields and others that run right to the beaches of blue waters, from Colombo to the south.

The impressive journey east from Columbo to the Hill Country passes through Kandy, Nanu Oya and Ella to Badulla. The part of the journey from Haputale to Ella is considered one of the most scenic train journeys in the world.
